Spring/Summer Classes:
Adult: Dont miss these classes!
Pit-Fire Event:
Whether you have never worked with pottery or you have years of experience, any level of skill can participate and lean this age old technique! Your unfired, unglazed work will be nestled with sawdust, leaves, branches and colorants, the fire is then lit and left to smolder for several hours. This technique is called "Pit Firing" and your work will be "Flame Painted" during the firing. Participants are required to assist the artist in the placing of the pieces, starting, maintaining and completing the firing process. Plan to spend the day, you can even make it a family event!
Contempoary Chalk:
Use pastel chalk to create a striking abstract drawing. We will work in this messy medium to create a ready-to-frame piece! (examples are displayed in the cases across from the front desk) No drawing skills required. You are given a basic plan and pre-designed composition, then you color it in. You also learn about color schemes and apply them to your work of art!
Spring Design:
Why just do spring cleaning, when you can do spring design? Let's re-design a few rooms in your house with basic interior design techniques! Give your friends and guests something to talk about with your fresh new look. You'll receive handouts and guidance on accent design, color schemes and room layout. Class examines homes the instructor personally designed and then red-line some photos of your own home!
Think Outside the Box:
Use various craft boxes to create usable, unique projects, even an artful, trendy purse! Check out samples in the display case to get you thinking "outside the box". Woodburner equipment will be available for use too. Any of these projects could be transformed into a rainy day project for kids, grandchildren, teen get-togethers, scouting projecst or even just something "outside the norm".
Silver Wear:
Learn about silversmithing! Make a bracelete and/or a pendant from Silver with accents of Copper. We'll use a variety of tools and techniques including: Chasing, Hammering, Filing, Cutting, Riveting, Bending and use of Dremel tools.
Silver Wear II:
Can't get enough silversmiting? Lets expand our skills. Get introducted to new techniques and build your skills. We work in silver and copper again to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry!
Mosaics and Wine:
Why not devote a few fun-filled evenings to creating a mosaic masterpieces? You can choose your project and the instructor will guide you through the process. The last class includes a wine tasting adn light hors d'oevres provided by the Burgundy Room of Dublin on Avery-Muirfield Drive. (Ages: 21 and up only)
Youth:
Jackson Pollock Painters:
Are you ready to get messy and try a whole new way of painting? Here is your chance! We will work outside (weather permitting) to create paintings as Jackson Pollock did with splatters adn dripped paint. Create two ready to frame paintings and a set of personalized stationary using this fun process.
Let's Twist:
Twist wire to make a necklace, bracelet, bookmark, keychain and a creative storage cup! We use simple jewelry tools and colorful beads, colored wire adn buttons to complete our projects!
Art Books:
Do you like to journal, sketch or write in a diary? Why not make your very own, unique book to keep your thoughts in? Make three books; one with pocket pages to tuck in your keepsakes; a book that hides inside a box; and a collage cover book with a rivvon or leather side tie!
Preschool:
Crazy Collages:
Let's learn about collages! Work with ripped paper and stickers to create a memory page with pictures of your favorite things. Use found objects to make a collage and paint over all the textures to create a masterpiece!
Mini Michelangelos:
Explore the works of Michelangelo and recreate it in your own way. Projects include a mini Sistine Chapel drawing, small clay sculptors and our own version of St. Peters.
Outdoor Adventures:
Explore nature, draw from life and make found object art. We take a walk, collect items and come back inside to assemble a seed mosiac, pinecone sculptures and complete drawings--all from nature!
